Rush hour motorists faced disruption yesterday when a lorry caught fire on the A1.
The incident occurred on the A1 westbound, between the Gladsmuir and Bankton junctions, at about 5.30pm yesterday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was made aware of the fire 5.33pm, mobilising two appliances to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of the area.
No one was injured.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.33pm on Wednesday, 17 August to reports of a lorry trailer well alight on the A1 westbound between Gladsmuir and Bankton.
"Operations control mobilised two appliances to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.
"There were no reported casualties."
