A vehicle fire on the Edinburgh City Bypass is causing disruption for county motorists heading to the Capital.
The blaze took hold of a vehicle on the westbound carriageway just after the Sheriffhall Roundabout at 9.53am this morning prompting the closure of the road.
The van was seen parked on the hard-shoulder engulfed in flames but the driver is thought to have gotten out safely.
The latest update from 11.04am has confimred that one lane of traffic on the westbound carriageway has reopened but motorists are still facing significant delays.
Emergency services are still in attendance.
A Traffic Scotland spokesperson said: "One lane remains closed westbound just after Sheriffhall Roundabout due to a vehicle fire.
"Approx 15 minute delay- Emergency services are in attendance"
At 12.08pm it released an updated statement to confirm that one lane remains closed
A spokesperson said: "One lane remains closed Westbound just after Sheriffhall Roundabout due to a vehicle fire TRISS remain in attendance"
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently assisting Scottish Fire and Rescue at the scene of a vehicle fire on the A720 westbound near Sheriffhall.
"A lane closure is in place temporarily as work continues.”
