A DEAD whale has washed up on a beach near Port Seton with walkers advised not to get too close to the scene.
The small beaked whale was found to be deceased and in a state of decay.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue and East Lothian Countryside Rangers have all been notified and measures are underway to remove the body.
East Lothian Animal Rescue and Advice (ELARA) said in a statement: "We would please ask members of the community to keep all dogs on leads when on the beach and to keep a respectful distance from the animal until it is properly dealt with by the appropriate agencies.
"We want to make everyone in the area aware not to disturb the body."
A post mortem may be required – ELARA said any exterior interference with the whale may hinder the post mortem efforts.
